Liu will report directly to Jean-Michel Dumont, chairman of Ruder Finn Asia.

Liu is returning to Ruder Finn after an initial stint with the agency from 2001 to 2007, working as an account director. He moved on to join power solutions company Vestas China where his latest role was interim head of communications.

Liu's experience in PR and communications includes working for Accor Group and its risk management team during the Beijing Olympic Games 2008 and Kimberly-Clark China.

"We have seen many ex-staff re-joining Ruder Finn over the last few months. This says a lot about Ruder Finn's strong culture, and with the return of Leon, we hope that more will follow suit," said Dumont.

Major clients under Ruder Finn China include Givenchy, Li Ning and Audi. The agency also holds a large portfolio on travel and tourism clients like the Canadian Tourism Commission, Tangla Beijing and Emirates Airline.
