AFP turns fortune-teller in SEA Games headline

JAKARTA - Newswire AFP has taken time sensitivity to a whole new level by anticipating the winner of the Southeast Asia Games 2011 football final more than a day before the match is scheduled to take place.

The story, which appears to be a medal tally summary as a run-up to the final match scheduled for today at 4pm, is amusingly headlined "Indonesia beat Malaysia in SEA Games football final".

Anticipation for the match between Indonesia and Malaysia has been running high with authorities concerned for the safety of the fans and team players.

Perhaps AFP's crystal ball can anticipate how things will turn out so those responsible can ensure the safety of all parties.

AFP's Asia-Pacific Chief Asia Editor Phil Chetwynd responded to a query by Campaign clarifying that the inaccuracy had been corrected.

UPDATE: Malaysia won the match in a penalty shootout.
