Sylvie Liu

Business director
BBDO
Beijing

Amid the uncertainty of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, Liu made a pivotal decision to join BBDO, reshaping the agency’s Beijing office model. Under her leadership, BBDO Beijing evolved from primarily serving automotive clients to a versatile hub engaging in diverse client pitches, adding new accounts like Douyin and Meituan while expanding the office’s capabilities from creative production to encompass PR, social media operations and international brand business.

The need to learn and re-learn is crucial, and Liu recognises that. She has fostered an environment of synergy where every team member thrives, performing to their fullest regardless of tenure. Liu’s team comprises fresh university graduates to veterans with over 15 years of experience, all connected by a common zeal for work. Her infectious positive energy permeates the workplace, inspiring collaboration and driving collective success. Liu is always willing to share her expertise in pitch and presentation skills with the teams across Greater China.

With a keen eye for strategy and talent, Liu adeptly matches clients with the optimal creative teams, leveraging diverse resources to address their business challenges comprehensively. She firmly believes that true success lies in addressing client challenges and creating opportunities that extend beyond the immediate solution. Her unwavering commitment to client success earns her accolades, such as being called “the most reliable person” by a client from Hisense. Another from Mengniu says she is “the most important person” in their agency collaboration, a testament to Liu’s unparalleled dedication and impact.

Liu’s remarkable career trajectory, marked by successive promotions and diverse client portfolios, underscores her pivotal role in propelling the agency’s growth and diversification. Having transitioned from client side to agency in pursuit of her creative passions, Liu epitomises resilience, innovation and commitment to excellence.
