A weekly roundup of people moves and account news worth noting.

PEOPLE MOVES

Marriott International appointed Alethea Lam, previously director of corporate communications for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Asia Pacific based in Singapore, as vice president of communications for Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong. Her remit includes internal and external communications, including corporate reputation and crisis management, as well as overseeing communications strategy for the company’s more than 20 brands in Asia-Pacific. She will also provide strategic counsel to Marriott’s more than 550 hotels in Asia Pacific, and join the APAC leadership team. 

Burson-Marsteller hired Reza Setiawan as director of brand communications and Muhamad Heikal as associate director of public affairs in Indonesia. Setiawan brings 15 year’s experience to the role, joining from Asiana Group, while Heikal returns to Burson-Marsteller from Asia Group Advisors. 

Bobby Arthawan was appointed head of brand in Indonesia at Edelman. He was most recently president director at Dentsu Indonesia, and has previously worked at BBDO Worldwide, Ogilvy One, Grey Group, and GOMOBILE.

Production company The Sweet Shop promoted producer Ben Dailey to executive producer. He will oversee productions that come through the New Zealand office while continuing to produce local content. 

Australian PR firm Eleven made a number of recent leadership changes. The agency promoted Fiona Milliken to general manager; Fee Townshend joined as managing director of the Melbourne office. Two new account directors arrived, Laura Fields from Ketchum in London, and Jade Glashoff from GTI Tourism. 

180China appointed Kenneth Kuan and Allen Lee as the CCO of its Beijing and Shanghai office respectively. Kuan was from Ogilvy Asia Pacific, part of the Unilever team based in Hong Kong, while Lee was the ex-CCO at VML Shanghai.

BUSINESS WINS

RED2 Digital was appointed as Pocari Sweat's digital agency of record in Vietnam following a review. The appointment includes digital media planning and buying, mobile, social media, SEO and analytics, as well as digital creative and content development.

DigitasLBi won a three-way pitch to run a Novartis social media awareness campaign about heart failure in Singapore. The campaign will use a local comedian to “raise awareness and steal hearts”, according to the client.

Kia Motors appointed Havas Media as its media agency in Australia. The account, reported to be worth A$19 million, was taken over by Havas from Initiative, which declined to take part in the pitch. Havas will be responsible for ATL media buying and planning.

Twitter appointed MediaDonuts as its exclusive authorised sales partner for Philippines and Thailand.

Futbol Club Barcelona and Mission Hills Group announced a collaboration to make Hainan province a hub of football for China and the wider region. The two will open a football academy in Haikou and open an interactive FC Barcelona experience area.
