Borromeo confirms that she is leaving due to health reasons. Manual Quiogue will take over the position as country leader with immediate effect. Quiogue was promoted as managing partner at GroupM in March this year.

Mark Patterson (pictured), CEO of GroupM APAC, said: "Mitos feels that the demands and requirements of her role and the impact it is having on her require her to step down immediately. I admire and respect that decision and we will give her all the support she needs in the immediate future to ensure her well being and future health."

Borromeo has been leading GroupM since 2004. “In that time our business has changed dramatically under her guidance and leadership and is now very well positioned for further growth and development in the market,” Patterson added.

Beginning in 2001, Borromeo has held management positions in a variety of agencies under the WPP agency network including JWT, Mindshare and most recently GroupM.
