GO Communications wins Miss Universe Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR - Miss Universe Malaysia Organisation has handed the publicity and promotions duties for the Miss Universe Malaysia contest to GO Communications, without a pitch.

The appointment is on a retainer basis, made in July.

The relationship between the agency and Miss Universe Malaysia Organisation started in June when the latter appointed GO Communications for a project.

This year’s pageant has shortlisted 17 finalists, who are now participating in the shooting of a reality TV programme called Beauty Camp. The show, which places all the contestants in one house, will run as six episodes on TV station 8tv later this year. The grand finale will take place in December.

Miss Universe Malaysia is affiliated with the international Miss Universe franchise, owned and managed by Trump organization, in a joint venture with NBC Universal.

It is one of the longest running pageants in Malaysia. The winner of Miss Universe Malaysia will be representing Malaysia on the international stage.

“It is an opportunity to showcase talented Malaysian women who will promote the country to the world,” said Peter de Kretser, COO at GO Communications. “I hope in the not too distant future a Malaysian is crowned Miss Universe”.

Former Miss Universe Malaysia winners, including Yasmin Yusuff, Elaine Daly and Andrea Fonseka, who is currently the national director for the Miss Universe Malaysia Organisation.
