Kuo twittered about his new Baidu life at the end of his first day working there. He reports to Jennifer Li, CFO of Baidu

Kuo left the advertising industry in January 2009 and had been working as a consultant for online video-sharing web site Youku. According to his online profile, he was responsible for international public relations, media relations and business development at Youku.

Baidu posted a 59.6 per cent growth in the first quarter of this year, after Google exited the Chinese market. It also announced a new production unit for Qiyi.com (an independent video subsidiary established in January 2010 to focus on licensed video contents), a move to meet the increasing demand for product placement videos in China.

According to Reuters, Tang Hesong, Baidu's general manager for corporate development, told reporters during a news conference that the company 'is aiming to hold 79 per cent of the market share in China for online and mobile search by next year.'
