DDB, OMD top Singapore Hall of Fame 2011

SINGAPORE – DDB and OMD went home the overall winners at last night’s Institute of Advertising Singapore (IAS) Hall of Fame Awards.

DDB Group Singapore was named Advertising Agency of the Year for the third year, having taken home six awards including a Lifetime Achievement for David Tang, creative director of the year Thomas Yang, strategic planner of the year Wendy Ong and Young Professional of the Year Sim Yunying.

“We have a wonderful team of people who is pushing the boundary on creativity and setting new benchmarks in marketing for our clients. Personally, I’m gratified and humbled by the lifetime award. I will have to work very hard ahead to deserve this tribute,” said David Tang, president and CEO of DDB Group Singapore.

Campaign of the Year was StarHub ‘Hub It!’ and Print Campaign of the Year was BCF ‘Are You Obsessed with the Right Thing?’ – both by DDB Group Singapore.

OMD Singapore was named Media Agency of the Year for the fifth consecutive year.

ZenithOptimedia Singapore won International Media Plan of the Year for ‘BBC Earth on BBC Knowledge – Because No-one Gets Closer’ and Media Planner of the Year for Susan Chee.

Brand of the Year went to the Health Promotion Board, as HPB’s Vernon Vasu was named Client Marketer of the Year.

BBH Asia Pacific was awarded Digital Campaign of the Year ,‘World’s First Digital Tip Jar’, and Most Effective Media Campaign of the Year ‘Can You Serve?’ season two – both for Singapore Tourism Board.

Grey Group Singapore’s CEO Subbaraju Alluri, was named Advertising Professional of the Year in recognition of his outstanding achievements and excellence as a CEO and contributions to the industry. Saying he felt truly honored to be inducted into The Singapore Advertising Hall of Fame, Raju added that he was thrilled to have received this award from such an amazing group of judges, “And to have my achievements recognized by world class peers.”

JWT/XM Asia Pacific’s executive director Valerie Cheng was named Digital Creative Director of the Year, “I’m very excited – this award is a real honour. It feels like the hard work of the last 15 years has paid off,” she said.

And TV Campaign of the Year went to UP Brand Buzz for the 'Mrs Chong' TVC for the Ministry of Education (MoE).
