CNBC official media partner for 5th World Islamic Economic Forum

SINGAPORE - CNBC is the official media partner for the 5th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) to be held in Jakarta from March1-4, 2009.

This year's forum will focus on "Food and Energy Security" and "Stemming the Tide of the Global Financial Crisis".

WIEF is a global conference that acts as an international business platform for Muslim businesses to meet for business opportunities. Together with government leaders, the delegates deliberate, brainstorm and develop solutions for the betterment of the world, with a specific focus on the Muslim business community.

“We are excited about the partnership. CNBC focuses on covering events that make meaningful economic differences to respective industries and regions, with a global perspective”, said Jeremy Pink (pictured), president and managing director of CNBC Asia Pacific.

“This is a great opportunity to build closer ties with the Islamic business community and to learn more about their views in response to the current economic climate,” he added.

Tan Sri Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak, secretary general of World Islamic Economic Forum Foundation said, “We expect WIEF’s partnership with CNBC to widen the reach of this annual forum.”
