YTL Communications appoints Agenda and JWT to launch 4G mobile network in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR - YTL Communications, a subsidiary of one of Malaysia's leading integrated infrastructure conglomerates, has appointed Agenda and JWT to launch its national brand communications plan to promote the country's first 4G mobile internet network.

JWT will take on creative while Agenda is charged with digital duties. Both WPP companies will work to launch a through-the-line communications plan in July 2010.

"We will be building the first nationwide 4G mobile internet network in the world. We need partners who are passionate about this, understand our challenges and are willing to walk the extra mile to make the difference,” said Yap Kok Leong, chief marketing officer, YTL Communications. “We believe JWT can deliver this promise. Together, we will deliver a truly connected life to the Malaysian people."

YTL Communications is partnering with Clearwire, Cisco, GCT and Samsung to develop the internet communications plan.

In November, YTL signed an agreement with Telekom Malaysia (TM) to work on its 4G network service.

The 15-year agreement will enable YTL to leverage on TM’s nationwide wholesale ethernet service, high-speed broadband infrastructure and other telecommunications facilities.
