Tourism New Zealand appoints Hill & Knowlton in Australia

SYDNEY - Tourism New Zealand has appointed Hill & Knowlton (H&K) as its public relations agency-of-record in Australia following a competitive pitch that included five shortlisted agencies.

Tourism New Zealand appoints Hill & Knowlton in Australia
H&K will be responsible for maintaining Tourism New Zealand’s ongoing decade-long marketing campaign ‘100% Pure New Zealand’ and overseeing integrated initiatives promoting the country's attractions and events, including the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

“The team at H&K completely understood our brand,” said Barry Eddington, Tourism New Zealand’s regional manager, adding that the agency will work across traditional PR, experiential and social media initiatives.

According to the agency, more than one million Australian travellers visited New Zealand in the last year, making Australia New Zealand’s biggest tourism market.

Tourism New Zealand has worked with H&K in the past. In September 2008, Tourism New Zealand transferred its China public relations account to H&K from independent domestic agency @ without a pitch.

The appointment comes one month after Tourism New Zealand planned its first China campaign targeted at the growing number of affluent overseas travellers.
