Telkomsel calls multi-agency pitch

Telco looking to strengthen creative, digital and brand strategy with three new agencies.

Telkomsel calls multi-agency pitch

Indonesia’s largest mobile carrier, Telkomsel, has called a multi-agency pitch in Jakarta.

The company is seeking three new agencies: a strategic brand lead, a creative production agency and a digital and content agency. R3 is handling the pitch.

Leo Burnett and Hakuhodo are Telkomsel’s incumbent creative agencies, while Narrada currently handles digital. The pitch is a procurement requirement, as the incumbents’ contracts cannot be further extended.

Nirwan Lesmana, Telkomsel vice president of brand and communication, said the brand wants to bolster its position as a leader in the mobile digital space. “We are eager to have external marketing partners who are broad-minded, strong on consumer insights, who have the ability to elevate Telkomsel brand strategy that is in line with Telkomsel goals, market dynamic and challenges in the coming years,“ Lesmana added.

The pitch will be handled in three phases: RFI, then chemistry meetings, and finally RFP. Submissions for the RFI must be entered by 14 November. The agencies will be appointed by 1 March 2019.
