Spikes Nights 2013: Parties take to the streets, bus and rooftops

SINGAPORE - Like previous years, Spikes Asia isn’t just about seminars. There are opportunities to network—aka “parties”—on each evening of the three-day festival.

The networking reception on the first evening is hosted by Cannes Lions and Campaign Asia-Pacific, celebrating 40 years of creativity at 40th.campaignasia.com, in the Festival Hall.

The second evening, digital production house Mediamonks will host a happy hour session to celebrate its launch in Singapore.

Then, the party marathon begins, as five agencies pull out all the stops for Networking After Dark.

This year, there will be a party bus, yes a party bus, sponsored by Bates CHI & Partners (1), to ferry delegates back and forth to all of the evening's party venues. The party on wheels will offer music and drinks, and delegates are invited to come onboard the open-top double decker bus, which will run between 7:20 pm and 2 am.

Media agency VivaKi (2) will again host its party at Paulaner Bräuhaus Singapore, just across from the Suntec Convention Centre. Take this opportunity to fill your stomach with some hearty food before venturing out for the rest of the night's festivities.

Lowe Asia-Pacific (3) will have its signature street party at the junction between Ann Siang Hill and Club Street, one of the city's nightlife areas. The “Electro street party” will apparently involve lots of glow sticks.

Both JWT Singapore (4) and McCann Worldgroup Singapore (5) will be hosting rooftop parties at their respective offices. Dubbed “Café del Sky”, JWT Singapore's event promises a good time "20 metres above the sea, miles away from sobriety”.

McCann Worldgroup, meanwhile, aims to make it a “massive” party as it collaborates with music agency Massive Music.

On the final night, after the awards presentation, Leo Burnett hosts the official Spikes Asia After Party at Avalon nightclub at Marina Bay Sands. The event will feature local and international artists, including local band Wicked Aura and rap artist/songwriter/producer Kevin Lester.

Street dancer Marquese Scott, who is speaking at Spikes Asia on Monday, will also perform at the After Party. YouTube-turned-music recording duo Kurt & Sam will also make an appearance at the show.
