BEIJING - Snow Beer, the number one beer group in China, has called a media review with industry sources suggesting that Charm, Golden Bridge, Maxus and ZenithOptimedia have been approached for a credentials presentation.

The Beijing-based media agency Charm Communications, CCTV’s biggest buying agency, has been the long-serving media agency for Snow Beer. Golden Bridge, a Hong Kong-listed Chinese media agency, also handles CCTV media buying.

The pitch is expected to be held in mid-September.

This development follows the news that GroupM’s MediaCom Shanghai won AB InBev’s US$190 million media account in China last month.

Snow Beer is brewed by a joint venture between SABMiller and China Resources Enterprises. According to Bloomberg, China Resources Enterprises may spend as much as HK$5.5 billion (US$700 million) on an acquisition by the end of the year after its profit in the first half of the year more than tripled.
