The account was secured after a pitch that lasted for a month and a half, involving several 4A and local agencies from Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Optimedia Beijing will be responsible for media planning, consultancy and ads investment assessment.

The Citic Bank Credit Card Centre is headquartered in Shenzhen and started issuing credit cards in 2003.

"Optimedia did the best among all candidates. I was impressed with their active working attitude, professional media thoughts, rich media resources and proper staff arrangement," commented Hou Yu, manager of brand management at China Citic Bank.

"Optimedia is very familiar with the credit card business and I believe they will become the new engine for this service," he added.

Polun Ip, managing director of Optimedia North China, said, "Optimedia has already won several local clients from different sectors, which demonstrates that our services have successfully met local customers' demands."
