Seemingly undeterred from the backlash that Toys “R” Us faced this week for launching a campaign using OpenAI’s Sora, Motorola rolled out its own AI-generated campaign on Friday.

Styled by Motorola features a series of models wearing outfits inspired by the brand’s logo. The models, environments and music are all AI-generated.

Each outfit was created from thousands of AI-generated images that were altered to incorporate the brand’s logo and then upscaled and animated. Creating the campaign took four months of research and a team using nine AI tools: Krea.ai, Midjourney, Comfy UI, Hypic, Magnific.ai, ClipDrop, Firefly, Luma and Udio.

Styled by Motorola highlights Motorola’s new Razr 50 folding smartphone and partnership with Pantone by depicting the outfits in the six colors that the phone is available in. Fashion creators Leeloo and Edward Sad styled outfits that match the phones in an accompanying creator campaign.

Motorola shared its ad on its social channels and at a launch party. Creative textile studio Scotomalab also designed a tangible version of a Motorola dress.

Motorola worked on the campaign with its agency Heaven.

On Monday, Toys “R” Us released an ad made using OpenAI’s Sora, much to the chagrin of advertisers. Despite this controversy, Toys “R” Us Studios president Kim Miller Olko told NBC News it considers the campaign a success and plans to add generative AI to its toolkit.
