This three-year project, which is targeted to officially launch in mid-2013, is the third in the Water for Life programme, first launched by the Singapore International Foundation (SIF) in Cambodia in 2010. The programme is managed by the SIF and sponsored by the Metro for Children charity, in partnership with Pioneer Junior College (PJC).
The campaign is running until 24 December across print, digital and in-store charity booths at four Metro stores (Paragon, Woodlands, Sengkang, City Square), where the public may make donations to support this effort.
The public can also pledge donations online and leave a message of hope for the children while learning about the project through an interactive story and video on a dedicated microsite, as well as Facebook and Twitter.
Due to pollution and poor sewage facilities, more than 50 per cent of the population in rural Indonesia has no access to clean water for daily living. Since 2001, Metro for Children and the SIF have collaborated on 25 projects that have raised funds to improve the care of critically ill children and enhance educational opportunities for disadvantaged children in Asia.
