SINGAPORE - Matthew Lackie, currently senior vice-president of PR agency Waggener Edstrom (WE) Asia-Pacific, will be taking over as regional lead from January 2013.

He replaces executive vice-president David Ko, who will be taking an indefinite sabbatical starting 9 February 2013.

According to a spokesperson for WE, Ko will not displace Lackie when he returns to work but will instead move on to other roles in the organisation.

Formerly the deputy lead for Asia-Pacific, Lackie has been taking on more responsibilities under Ko's guidance, growing WE's Singapore business and establishing and expanding its presence in India. Lackie will now add Ko's responsibilities to his own.

Ko has been leading WE Asia-Pacific for seven years and plans to use his sabbatical to travel. During his tenure he expanded WE's footprint in Asia from three to 10 offices, including equity investments with Buchan in Australia and Shout Waggener Edstrom in Korea.
