ASIA-PACIFIC - Performics, the performance marketing arm of ZenithOptimedia, has won the regional search account for the Marriott Group following a pitch.

The purpose of the pitch was to consolidate the Marriott's performance marketing account under a single agency.

It is unclear how many agencies were involved in the recent pitch, which was led by Marriott's global office in the US city of Bethesda, Maryland.

Following this win, Performics' duties will include work on Marriott's SEO (search engine optimisation) and SEM (search engine marketing) across all Asia-Pacific markets.

According to industry sources, Marriott's Asia-Pacific search account was previously distributed among several incumbent agencies across the region.

Sources said these agencies included Bite, which handled the account in China, MEC, an agency in Australia that handled Australasia and Southeast Asia, a UK agency that managed India and a US agency that handled Japan.

ZenithOptimedia and Performics both declined to comment.
