Kanebo picks JWT for Aqua relaunch in China

SHANGHAI - Japanese cosmetics firm Kanebo has appointed JWT as its creative agency in China as it prepares to re-launch its Aqua skincare range, following a pitch that also included incumbent Dentsu, ADK and Hakuhodo.

Michiel Hofstee, managing director of JWT Shanghai, was unable to comment on Kanebo’s specific aims in the market, but stated that it was looking to reconsider its positioning, having updated the packaging for its Aqua brand. He added that Aqua products catered to a broad target audience, from high-end to mass market consumers.

Kanebo’s regional presence encompasses Taiwan and Thailand in addition to Japan and China.
