87 per cent of Hong Kong's youth segment own a mobile, the highest ownership across Asia, and spend on average an hour per day talking on their mobile.
In addition, this group own on average 4.1 technology devices (two more than the region average) and as many as 66 per cent have desktop computers, which doubles the 32 per cent average.
Ownership of digital cameras, handheld video games and TV game consoles totals 50 per cent, 40 per cent and 25 per cent respectively.
The report also shows that the younger generation in Hong Kong spend 20.4 hours on media, follwed by 18 per cent in Taiwan.
Nearly two thirds of this population (63 per cent) have a social networking account. More than half (56 per cent) blog actively, compared to the regional average which is only 39 per cent.
The survey also shows Hong Kong's youth proactively participate in online forums or discussion groups, topping the chart in Asia with 47 per cent.
However, Hong Kong is still lacking in microblogging activity, with only 9 per cent compared to the regional 12 per cent. The Chinese mainland and Taiwan both saw 19 per cent of its new generation own microblogging accounts.
The report also finds that email still dominates overall internet activities. A total of 69 per cent of Hong Kong's youth use email regularly, compared to the 53 per cent regional average, and 47 per cent read newspaper online. Other main reasons to go online include searching for information via search engines and listening to music.
Hong Kong is also the second Asian region that produces the most online videos (31 per cent).
