GroupM China promotes veteran Sara Si to lead GroupM Trading

SHANGHAI - GroupM China has promoted its own 15-year veteran Sara Si (斯甜), currently vice-president of GroupM China, to president, media management, GroupM Trading.

Si (pictured) has been with the Group for more than 15 years and was promoted to the VP role with GroupM China in April 2011. In her new role at GroupM Trading, she will oversee media planning and buying. 

Based in Shanghai, Si reports to Bessie Lee, CEO, GroupM China and Wanjun Jin, chairman, GroupM Trading, China.

Si's senior management roles within GroupM have included managing director for MEC Shanghai and MD for GroupM Business Management.

"Sara comes to our trading unit with extensive media knowledge, agency experience and industry connections," Lee said. "She will greatly enhance our trading capability and drive integration of all media channels within our trading unit.”

Meanwhile, Tony Chen (陈建豪), MD of GroupM Interaction since September 2010, will relinquish his second role, added in October 2011, as president, media management, GroupM Trading. He will focus on his remit as president, GroupM Interaction, with additional duties to oversee the strategic operations of GroupM China's mobile-marketing unit, mJoule, as well as other new digital ventures and initiatives.

GroupM Trading China is the central organization for all of WPP’s communication agencies: Maxus, MEC, MediaCom and Mindshare. Key clients include L’Oreal Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, Haier, Yili, Lenovo, GSK and Yum. 

A spokeperson said there is no replacement for the VP role for the time being.
