EnergyAustralia | Wastes Energy, Saves Energy | Australia

Australian state-owned energy supplier EnergyAustralia, the country's largest, has rolled out a campaign to point out the various ways in which people waste energy.

Through a series of print executions and two television commercials, ‘Wastes Energy, Saves Energy’ (developed with Leo Burnett) portrays silly people jeopardizing the environment for the sake of careless actions. The characters are shown wasting energy, time and money among other things. The campaign drives people to visit the EnergyAustralia website to learn useful tips on how to save energy.

Gary Dawson, creative group head at Leo Burnett Sydney said: “The campaign taps into simple, observed, human truths, wasteful moments that resonate with us all.”

ECD Andy DiLallo added: “In what is usually a very tired, low interest category, we have been able to deliver memorable work that is full of character and humour.”

Aiming to move away from its image as a giant, faceless power company, EnergyAustralia hope the campaign will put a “human face” to the brand. General manager of sales and marketing of EnergyAustralia Jane Mills said the best way to connect with consumers was to take a positive attitude and make them smile.
