Deluxewords wins Peninsula Hotels publishing project

HONG KONG - Hong Kong-based Deluxewords founder Daniel Jeffreys has been chosen to write 'The making of the Paris Peninsula' book for the Peninsula Hotels Group. It will be published in 2013 to coincide with the opening of the new Peninsula Hotel in Paris.

The 250-page English and French versions will be published by International Publishing Concepts Worldwide and will be released at the launch party for the Paris Peninsula Hotel, tentatively scheduled for the second half of 2013.

Copies of the book will be available to guests at all Peninsula Hotels in Hong Kong and China.  Stakeholders are also contemplating a traditional Chinese edition.

The Peninsula in Paris is the Peninsula Hotels first property in Europe. It is being built on Avenue Kleber - 200 meters from the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs Elysees. Jeffreys says both the site and the development have a fascinating story to tell.

The hotel is being built inside a Hausmann-style structure that first opened its doors in 1909 and has since been the headquarters of the German Army during the second World War, site of the peace treaty between the US and Vietnam in 1973, and was used by the former French President Francois Mitterand for intimate gatherings.

“Turning this grand old building into a modern luxury hotel while preserving the historic features is a phenomenal task,” explained Jeffreys.

He says the book will tell "an incredible story of creativity and engineering genius", and will be a historic document that can be enjoyed by visitors to Paris for many years to come.

The Peninsula Hotels has published a collection of books based on its history, buildings and vision, including Portraits of Peninsula, Beyond Hospitality, and My Peninsula.

Deluxewords, a media production company which was only set up by Jeffreys earlier this year, already claims a strong client portfolio including Pernod Ricard, Bottega Veneta and Louis Vuitton. It will launch Quintessentially Asia magazine in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing and Singapore later this year.
