DDB appoints John Sampson as ECD in Vietnam

HO CHI MINH CITY - DDB has appointed John Sampson as its executive creative director in Vietnam.

The former regional creative director for Indochina at Bates141 has lived and worked in Vietnam since late 2003 and was most notably responsible for his 'Nuti IQ Vietnamese heroes campaign' that was named Vietnam's best ever advertising campaign in the local press.

Daniel Gordon Jones, MD of DDB in Vietnam, said, "We are truly excited to have Sam join our team. His accomplishments and wealth of experience is unequalled in the advertising creative community in Vietnam. It is a real coup to have such a talent join DDB."

Gordon added, "His appointment comes on the back of our winning streak over the past few months which includes Johnson & Johnson, Wrigley's, Phu Nhuan Jewelry Company, PV Oil and Dong A Foods."

Samson has worked across numerous industries including telecoms, automotive and FMCG clients including Heineken, Mobifone, Honda and Vinamilk. Prior to joining Bates141 in Vietnam, Samson was managing partner and ECD of Workshop, an advertising agency based in New Zealand.

He has also worked with numerous multinational agencies in both Australia and New Zealand including Ogilvy & Mather, BBDO, Young & Rubicam and Grey.

"I'm excited to be part of DDB as it's one of the world's greatest creative networks, and look forward to working with Daniel to continue growing the business," Samson said.

His appointment is effective from 23 August.
