David Beckham's Portuguese egg tart quest takes him back to Venetian Macao

Long-time Sands Resorts Macao brand ambassador David Beckham stars in a micro movie 'That's the Taste' with several Chinese and Hong Kong actors.

It is fairly easy to pull off any campaign when you have someone with the star power as David Beckham as your brand ambassador. Sands Resorts Macao has signed Beckham since as far back as 2014, when a poolside shot of him at the Venetian hotel garnered 1.3 million likes on the former football star's Facebook page.

And it so happens that Beckham, reputedly a frequent visitor to Macau, has a sweet tooth for Portuguese egg tarts, the must-try food item in the casino city, Ad Nut understands. His quest to look for his favourite egg tart store in this micro movie shot in the style of a Hong Kong kungfu/gangster flick is a visual feast in itself, as Beckham fights off disgruntled restaurant workers with bouncing footballs without even breaking a sweat.

Just as Ad Nut expected, Beckham's little misadventure has a happy ending at the resort where, voila, you can find a pop-up store selling the elusive egg tarts. The micro movie developed by Saatchi & Saatchi Shanghai is shown on Venetian Macao's site, with an attached map of Beckham's culinary travels.
