CosmoGirl Hong Kong website enjoys facelift in time for its 10th anniversary

HONG KONG - To keep up-to-date with the web 2.0 and internet-savvy 20-somethings, the South China Morning Post has given its CosmoGirl Hong Kong website a video-focused facelift.

Appointed by The South China Morning Post (SCMP), Monimedia has unveiled the redesigned site, which uses an open source framework.

Dedicated to helping 20-something working women to lead trendy, fashionable and exciting lives, CosmoGirl provides useful and relevant advice for both "inner and outer beauty". Norma Chan, digital marketing manager, SCMP Hearst, said that the new website would have more video driven content. "Instead of using text to explain beauty tips, we can now use videos showing readers’ participation in beauty steps and sharing their views," she said.

Unlike other competing websites like Elle.com, Milk, and Beautyexchange.com which are mostly fashion and beauty focus, Chan cited that the new CosmoGirl Hong Kong’s website will also have a holistic range of editorial content including items on food, entertainment, culture, film, and music. It will also host bloggers including Wan Hoi, a well-known UFO commentator in Hong Kong.

In order to drive more reader traffic to their new site, CosmoGirl Hong Kong is also doing joint promotions with Lan Kwai Fong, Sheshido, and Shu Uemura.

“The challenge was to take a quality print product, understand the essence, and to really help provide to our CosmoGirl readers better access to their content and features online - which we’re happy to say has been achieved thanks to the Monimedia team,” said Etienne Maccario, director, digital business development for SCMP.

Monimedia has previously worked with SCMP for its Cosmopolitan and Education Post’s website revamp projectd.

CosmosGirl Hong Kong will kick off an official launch event for the website at Drago-i restaurant on 18 October.
