Carat named world's leading media agency in Recma report

GLOBAL - Carat has been named the world's leading media agency network once again, after regaining the top spot from MediaCom.

The Dentsu Aegis network has taken the top spot in Recma’s Qualitative Network Diagnostics report, pushing MediaCom to second place.

It is the fifth time that the agency has topped the list, out of the last six reports by Recma. The last report in June saw MediaCom secure the top spot.

Carat picked up the Mondelez International UK and US media business last month. October also saw Carat retain the European Arla business, adding the German market to its books.

MEC and OMD remain in third and fourth place, respectively, and Mindshare rose one place to fifth as ZenithOptimedia fell to sixth.

UM and PHD both moved up two places, and Vizeum and Inititative dropped two places on the table.

Johnson & Johnson consolidated its media business into UM around two weeks ago.

Recma assesses agencies’ new business success, business retention, awards and talent to come up with the scores. This is the first time that Recma has produced a report in November as it moves to publishing three reports a year instead of two.

Doug Ray, the global president at Carat, said: "This is the most global and most exhaustive report out there; being named as number one is a true indication of the talent in our agency and the quality of work we produce for our clients."

Global media agency ranking (as of 31 October 2015):

1. Carat
2. MediaCom
3. MEC
4. OMD
5. Mindshare
6. ZenithOptimedia
7. Havas Media
8. Starcom Mediavest Group
9. UM
10. PHD
