Bulgari Hotel Shanghai to debut in mid-June

The property will feature contemporary Italian design with a Bund backdrop offering heritage venues, a rooftop lounge, and a garden pavilion for events.

Bulgari Hotel Shanghai to debut in mid-June

Bulgari Hotel Shanghai will open on June 20, the brand’s sixth property worldwide and third in Asia. Located on the banks of Suhe Creek, the property combines a 48-floor tower, the carefully restored Chamber of Commerce Shanghai building dating from 1916, and lush garden surrounds.

“The Bulgari Hotel Shanghai is another milestone for the Bulgari Hotels and Resorts collection and, following the recent opening of our property in Beijing, confirms the importance of the Chinese market for the Bvlgari brand,” said Jean-Christophe Babin, CEO of Bulgari.

The hotel occupies the top eight floors of the Tower offering impressive views of the iconic Bund, the sky towers of Pudong’s financial district, the Huangpu River and Suzhou Creek. There are 82 guest rooms and suites, including a 400-sqm Bulgari Suite on the top floor with sweeping views for executive receptions that's accessible via private lift. The lower floors are occupied by The Bulgari Residences.

Six signature dining options are spread across the hotel tower and the adjacent historic Chamber of Commerce Shanghai.

Tower highlights for planners include Il Ristorante-Niko Romito, which presents “a carefully curated canon of contemporary Italian cooking in a seductive 47th floor restaurant overlooking the city lights”; while Il Bar on the same floor is “the place to be for sophisticated sipping and socialising”. La Terrazza on the rooftop offers an Italian-style informal menu and with that dazzling Shanghai skyline backdrop.

The historic Chamber of Commerce Shanghai, built in 1916 and completely restored, houses a glamorous 500-sqm Bulgari Ballroom with double-height ceilings, a haute-cuisine Chinese restaurant Bao Li Xuan and The Whisky Bar.

The Bulgari Ballroom can accommodate up to 500 for cocktails and 300 diners for a banquet. Guests enter the grand 127-sqm foyer decorated with original Chinese floor mosaics and coffered ceilings supported by vaulted columns. A contemporary cocktail bar at one end of the foyer is ideal for pre-function socialising and break-out refreshments.

The hotel’s opening coincides with the start of the Shanghai Film Festival, and as a Festival supporter, the hotel will christen its ballroom by hosting the Festival’s opening party on June 19.

For board meetings or private events, the main tower also offers additional event spaces imbued with contemporary Italian touches. On the second floor with large windows overlooking the garden, there are two boardrooms, each seating 10 guests. A 160-sqm meeting room with 90-sqm foyer hosts banquets for up to 80 people and cocktails for up to 150. It can also be divided in two for smaller events.

Each venue is equipped with multi-functional facilities and the latest audio-visual technology, including teleconferencing facilities. Il Giardino’s garden pavilion and La Terrazza’s rooftop lounge may also be reserved for private parties. Also on offer is a 2,000-sqm Bulgari Spa with eight treatment rooms.

Bulgari Hotel Shanghai is three minutes’ drive from the Bund, 45 minutes from Shanghai Pudong International Airport and 35 minutes from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport.

There are three new Bulgari Hotels due to open from 2020 to 2022 in Moscow, Paris and Tokyo.
