The expansion is expected to be completed in the next three months and will see launches in Melbourne, Beijing, Shanghai, New Delhi, Mumbai, Tokyo, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand and Taiwan.

According to Lee Stephens (pictured), digital CEO of Aegis Media Asia-Pacific, up to 250 media specialists have been trained in search engine management and integration with other media in the past six months, in anticipation of this rollout.

Hunter, who was previously managing director of iProspect Pacific, will now helm its Asia-Pacific operations as CEO.

He joined iProspect in Australia two years ago. Before iProspect, Hunter was general manager of Touchpoint and had spent time at New Zealand Post.

“Peter has a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience in both technology and search solutions within the digital space," said Stephens. "With the APAC region representing a massive 40 per cent of the 113 billion a month searches globally, we’re confident he is the one to take iProspect Asia-Pacific to the next level within this highly-competitive arena.”

Aegis is also undertaking a research project on the growing role of search in this region and will track 20,000 respondents in 10 markets to ascertain how Asian consumers are integrating search to make purchase decisions.

Results of this research will be announced in April.
