Samsung marks the launch of the new AI TV era

The electronics giant claims its new TV uses the power of AI to upscale viewers’ passions into immersive viewing adventures.

Needless to say, Ad Nut does not watch TV. Life in the woodland provides its own form of entertainment. After all, why bother with Netflix when you have nature on your doorstep?

If nature provides the best show on earth, Samsung believes it has the next best thing. It's new Neo QLED 8K TV we are told has AI upscaling technology that provides exceptional clarity. Samsung claims its most advanced television to date "ensures every moment is not just watched, but truly lived."

The 30 second TV spot tells the story of a couple who's viewing experience becomes immersive as they become participants in a football stadium match, experience desert mountain biking, as well as get up close to the action on the set of a TV drama.

We are told this highlights the new TV's remarkable capacity 'to upscale viewers’ passions into unparalleled spectacles of 'Wow', in an immersive viewing adventure.

Sascha Kuntze, chief creative officer of BBH Singapore, comments, “We are bringing stories to life and placing viewers at the centre of the action. By removing the boundary between the viewer and the spectacle, we’re encouraging our audience to ‘Upscale Every Moment’ by immersing them in a world where they become participants, not just observers.”

Sure, it is impressive, but totally implausible. Yes Samsung's latest TV may offer unparalleled clarity, but to claim it can immerse you in a world where you become a participant, not just an observer is a stretch too far. It seems to be a classic case of slapping 'AI' on the product and vastly exaggerating what its capabilities are.

Safe to say, Ad Nut is not convinced and will stick with the real thing. There's no substitute for nature. If you want entertainment that's truly immersive, Ad Nut recommends you to switch off the TV and go for a walk in the woods.

Ad Nut is a surprisingly literate woodland creature that for unknown reasons has an unhealthy obsession with advertising. Ad Nut gathers ads from all over Asia and the world for your viewing pleasure, because Ad Nut loves you.
