Nokia | Free Global Navigation Campaign | Global

Nokia's launched a global campaign promoting its Ovi Maps application, a free satellite navigation system available to all its smartphone users, with the help of seven colourful characters from around the world.

The Nokia Ovi Maps application offers a satellite navigation system (SatNav) that is open to all its smartphone users.

Creative agency Wieden + Kennedy in London developed the campaign along with its slogan ‘May everyone, everywhere find their way’.

The project calls in ‘happy navigators’ from around the world. Each character demonstrates the ways in which they use the SatNav on their Nokia handset. The creative team explains that the seven, real-life people featured in the commercial help them demonstrate the “most authentic, playful, innovative and at times, quirky modes of transport that humans use in their everyday lives.”

Representing China is Mr Wu from Tongzhou, a farmer that is very knowledgeable on the subject of robotics. Instead of a horse, Wu powers his rickshaw with his own masterpiece called ‘Mr Wu #25’. He is actually one of the highlights for the Shanghai’s Tech Expo 2010.

Then in India, Ibrahim and his elephant weaves around the city to find their way to the Jaipur Elephant Festival. The festival hosts different competitions involving elephants including tug-of-war, best decorated, dance programs and more.

The other characters are Karry McLean, a metal fabricator and machinist from Detroit in the States, and his 16 years old son Colton; Hetty Rose and her love for shoes from London; John Phangeni Ndwendwe, a proud rickshaw owner of 30 years, from Durban in South Africa; Vespa and Lambretta garage manager Dean Orton from Italy; and finally Yasser, the car pimp from Saudi Arabia.
