Messi takes a meme-filled journey for Ooredoo

The football star appears alongside local social influencers.

Leo Messi, brand ambassador for telco Ooredoo since 2013, appears on the eve of the World Cup in a new campaign that sees him taking a madcap tour through the internet and appearing amid multiple memes and alongside well-known social-media influencers from the brand's markets.

The somewhat banally titled 'Enjoy the Internet' campaign includes TVCs, digital content and out-of-home placements and will run in the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia. It will run on international TV and digital channels and will be live from June until August. The different markets will get tailored TVCs including the most relevant local references.

The social-media celebrities include Madjid Bougherra from Algeria, Ahmed Khalil Al Khaldi from Qatar, Mohammed Al-Araimi from Oman, Bader Al-Mutawa from Kuwait, Ahmed Athif from Maldives and Zenn Kyi from Myanmar.

Ad Nut has enquired as to what agency is responsible for the work.
