An ambitious founder of an independent company sells out to a holding company, and...you can probably guess what happens next.
Toronto agency Zulu Alpha Kilo made this film to show at a Canadian Agency of the Year competition. The same event in prior years has spawned a number of entertaining Zulu Alpha Kilo films: 'Say no to spec', 'Scared straight' (see "Hey, kid, are you sure you want to go into advertising?"), 'World's worst RFP' (see "Nightmare pitch video is all too realistic") and 'The wall' (see "What if ad concepts could talk smack?").
Like some of those earlier efforts, 'Billy's lemonade' is biting, but not really funny, because the sad storyline is too close to home. The agency says its main goal was to salute agencies that retain their independence, as signified by Billy's bird-flipping defiance of his former corporate overlords at the end.
