Best spaces to work: Smaato Singapore

Mobile ad platform taps California architect for its comfortable clean design of the new Singapore office, accentuated in white and pastel blue.

The Singapore headquarters of Smaato, a real-time mobie advertising platform, has been designed with the well-being of its employees in mind. Located in Marina Bay Financial Center, the 4510-square-foot space is styled mainly in calming white with pops of blue.

The look and feel of Smaato's six offices worldwide is also somewhat coordinated. All Smaato offices are designed by Bruce Pao of IPA Design in California, an architect who has worked on Apple office spaces, with extensive feng-shui experience.  Pao's aim is to give all his designed spaces, large and small, a positive energy and warm ambiance.

While the impressive colour-coordination of white and pastel blue in the above photos nearly exudes a clinical laboratory look (the blue employee uniforms are not required daily apparel), touches like fresh orchids and chrysanthemums, sofas and a games room make the space feel a little more relaxed like home.

Lunch is free on Mondays, encouraging employees to eat together at the pantry, which is also the spot for informal meetings and chats.

For the brave who wishes to unwind, a karaoke machine has been installed in the game room. For the diligent worker on a deadline, the panorama of the Singapore skyline, seen from the boardroom and lounge, provides respite to a busy day. All these are in the hopes of nurturing a work culture where employees are highly engaged and perform at their best.

Note: 'Best spaces to work' merely highlights new and cool workspaces; it should not be interpreted as an endorsement of a company's overall work experience.
