Weber Shandwick named Vodafone Hutchison's AOR

SYDNEY - Vodafone Hutchison Australia has appointed Weber Shandwick as its public relations agency-of-record in the market following competitive pitch.

Weber Shandwick named Vodafone Hutchison's AOR
Weber Shandwick is charged with overseeing all aspects of the brand’s communications activities, including the development of consumer and business campaigns, product and service launches, digital PR, sponsorship activation and corporate communications.

The agency will work across Vodafone Hutchison’s Vodafone, 3 Mobile and Crazy John’s brands.

Prior to Weber Shandwick's appointment, Vodafone Hutchison worked with Pulse on its Vodafone business and Porter Novelli for 3. According to Weber Shandwick, the agency will likely working together with Pulse and Porter Novelli in future on the brands.

Weber Shandwick’s appointment follows a closely-watched media pitch for the brand in the market that saw Ikon Communications retain the account.

Mitchell Communications was initially seen as the favourite to win the review, which ended in August, but the company was forced to withdraw from the pitch due to a conflict with client Optus.

Australia’s media review broke off from Vodafone’s global pitch, which resulted in OMD scooping the US$1 billion account.
