The annual World Education Congress (WEC) is the signature event of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) through which it delivers education, business and networking opportunities for meeting and event planners.
This year’s edition is themed ‘Stop planning meetings, start designing experiences’ and will be held from June 2-5, 2018 at the Indianapolis Convention Center in the US.
In the spirit of this theme, WEC18 will include some major revamps of its own. Four new “villages” form the basis of the event’s redesigned format “enabling more education, connections and customisation” around four key areas: innovation, social media, experiential and leadership.
Planners not attending in person will be able to participate virtually. “The WEC18 virtual pass is a phenomenal way to experience the power of MPI’s signature event, no matter how far away you are,” says Kristi Casey Sanders, CMP, CMM, DES, HMCC, director of thought leadership at MPI.
“The three-day experience features behind-the-scenes content as well as virtual moderators who will connect our virtual viewing audience to our live in-person attendees.
“Featured education will include sessions on risk management, diversity and inclusion, as well as essential career development advice. Viewers will be able to gain clock hours towards achieving or renewing the CMP and CAE designations.”
Keynotes will open and close each day with topics including "Revolt Against Routine and Create Memorable Experiences", "Train Yourself to Take Action" by TEDx star Mel Robbins, and Sudanese-Australian mechanical engineer and activist, Yassmin Abdel-Magied, will speak about "Valuing Diversity and Beating Bias".
The event is free to view live and you can register here, or if you want to be able to watch sessions again or replay what you've missed, you will be able to purchase the event package for US$99 here. The WEC18 link will be there by June 3.
