Equinox China, which has previously worked with Wyeth, is also believed to have been involved in the pitch.

According to a spokesperson at the agency, UM will be handling TV buying for Wyeth’s Prevenar brand, a vaccine for young children.

Wyeth is one of the largest research-based pharmaceutical and healthcare companies in the world.

The size of the account and the other agencies involved have not been disclosed. Earlier this year, Wyeth began a campaign promoting Prevenar and raising awareness of pneumococcal disease among children.

The Wyeth win for UM comes after a slew of new businesses in the region. In China, it has also picked up regional planning and buying duties for Texas Instruments . In Hong Kong, UM picked up AIA  and Asana Wellness . And in Malaysia, the Interpublic Group firm was appointed agency-of-record for Cerebos .

Henry Tajer, regional president of UM Asia Pacific, said the wins were “testament to the success of our strategy, and we look forward to continuing our aggressive growth.”

He added: “UM’s overall focus over the next three years is to grow the network aggressively through the development of core product excellence, digital integration and diversity. We are all aligned to this objective.”
