TEDx is a local, self-organised event that brings people together to share a TED-like experience.

The agency is tasked to promote the event, taking place on 14 July, among national and regional media outlets to support the running of the annual conference, which is taking place for the third time this year.

TEDxKL will feature an eclectic list of speakers including Austrian physics professor Dr. Ille Gebeshuber, inventor of a medical tool that detects anemia, entrepreneur and programmer of CD Baby Myshkin Ingawale, Derek Sivers and architect Kevin Mark Low.

Further speakers include an award winning photographer, an endangered animal conservationist as well as an open source information gatherer. The speakers are also expected to make an appearance at SMG Malaysia’s offices, adding spark to the in-house inspiration talk series.

“As the human experience company, we are constantly looking at ways and means to expand our thinking, gather new insights and take in new experiences within and outside of our industry,” Ranga Somanathan, CEO of Starcom MediaVest Group (SMG) and Optimedia Malaysia, said.

“Through our collaboration with the TEDxKL event last year and this year, many of our staff have returned inspired and ready to imbue their newfound creativity and ideas into the work that we do for our clients. TEDxKL is therefore one platform that helps us at SMG stay in touch with some of the most novel and intrepid of human thinking and experiences.”
