Simon Shing joins Celestial Asia Securities Holdings as CMO

HONG KONG - Simon Shing (成國達), who was with Bates on the HSBC account for nine years before leaving the agency in early January, is moving to the client side in a newly created post of chief marketing officer for Hong Kong-listed Celestial Asia Securities Holdings (時富投資集團).

In an exclusive interview, Shing (pictured) told Campaign Asia-Pacific that in his new role, he would oversee the marketing strategies of the company's various financial investments and retail businesses, including home furnishing chain store Pricerite.

“There are bigger scopes and challenges joining the client side,” Shing said. “The Group will have some new developments to review our marketing approach in Hong Kong’s market.”

Shing started at Bates as group account director and climbed to business director for Bates Asia. He also did work for Henderson Land Development while at the agency. As reported last June, Shing then joined the new joint venture between Bates CHI & Partners and JWT to handle the HSBC account. The business director role he left behind is still vacant.

Shing’s early career also included retail marketing at Esprit, and for the then Euro RSCG Beijing office working on the Peugeot account.
