Saatchi Beijing promotes Michelle Jiang to replace Charles Sampson

BEIJING - Saatchi & Saatchi China today announced the promotion of Michelle Jiang to MD of its Beijing office, following the resignation of Charles Sampson who will join Y&R China as CEO in January 2011.

Jiang has been with Saatchi China for eight years, most recently as client service director in Beijing leading all accounts including Ikea, Toyota and HP. Prior to that, she managed the P&G account at its Guangzhou office.

"I am proud that we can manage succession from within our strong team. Michelle is and has been a strong Saatchi & Saatchi leader, and this promotion is a natural step in her career," said Justin Billingsley, CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi Greater China, "With her creative partner, ECD Dean Sciole, Michelle with lead our growing Beijing office."

Sampson will begin his new job as Y&R China CEO in January, taking overall responsibility for the agency's offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

Sampson has spent the last ten years in China working for Saatchi & Saatchi. Prior to that, he headed up the agency's office in Poland and also worked for the company in London.

Matthew Godfrey, president, Y&R Asia, said, "Charles brings to Y&R a huge amount of experience and knowledge of the China business landscape and we're very happy to have him on board."

Y&R China have secured some high profile business wins from major brands in 2010, including Gap and China Southern Airlines.
