A seasoned leader and Campaign’s Greater China Agency Head of the Year in 2024, Liza Zhang, will oversee MSL and Publicis Influence in China.

Publicis Groupe elevates Liza Zhang to CEO role across two key agencies in China

Publicis Groupe has promoted Liza Zhang to chief executive of MSL and Publicis Influence in China, expanding her remit across these key agency brands. Previously serving as managing director of MSL China, Zhang was elevated to this position in January 2022. She will continue to report to Andy Ho, chief growth officer of Publicis Groupe China.

In her new role, Zhang will oversee a team of more than 300 professionals across Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou. Her portfolio includes Publicis' communications arm MSL and Publicis Influence, which focuses on influencer marketing and social media strategies. 

Over the past eight years with Publicis Groupe China, Zhang's tenure has been marked by a steady ascent through leadership positions, including general manager of MSL Shanghai and Guangzhou, and, most recently, managing director of MSL China. Under her leadership, MSL China was named Campaign-Asia's 2024 Greater China PR Agency of the Year in Agency of the Year, and Publicis Influence won Silver for Influencer Marketing Agency of the Year. Individually, Zhang was recognised with Gold for Campaign's Greater China Agency Head of the Year title, among other industry accolades. She also served as the only Chinese juror for the PR Lions at the 70th Cannes Lions.

Commenting on her appointment, Zhang said: "I am thankful for the recognition and for being entrusted with greater responsibilities. I fully believe in her capabilities in leveraging the unique advantages of our brands and provide future-fit integrated marketing and communication strategies for clients."

Zhang will continue to be based in Shanghai in her new role.
