Philips promotes Harjit Gill to CEO

SINGAPORE - Royal Philips Electronics has promoted Harjit Gill to become chief executive officer of Philips Southeast Asia and Pacific.

Reporting directly to Ronald de Jong, Philips’ chief market leader and member of the executive committee of Royal Philips, Gill succeeds Wayne Spittle who has been leading overall regional responsibilities over the past two years.

Spittle now fully focuses on his current role as senior vice-president and commercial leader of Philips Healthcare Asia Pacific to ensure that the brand further builds on its leading role in the healthcare market in the region.

Gill will also take on the role of chairman of Philips Electronics Singapore, effective 1 March, taking over from Wong Lup Wai who will be dedicated fully to his role as managing director of Singapore Innovation Site, Business Group TV.

Jong noted that Gill is a leader with extensive cross-cultural management experiences, and will be able to fuel growth of the brand’s businesses in the Southeast Asia and Pacific regions.

“Harjit has a track record of achieving strong growth and focus on the market place, and I am confident she will be instrumental in further cementing relationships with our key stakeholders and unlocking the full potential of Philips across the region.”

Gill said, “I look forward to building on the strong foundation, brand equity and presence we have in this region and further improve our performance. It is my ambition to work together with our partners and stakeholders to ensure that Philips’ unique capabilities in lighting, healthcare and consumer lifestyle are put to optimum use to create the best possible future for people in the region.”
