The appointment follows Sail’s agency affiliation with the Omnicom Group’s network of agencies, including BBDO, FleishmanHillard and OMD.

BBDO had been partnering with Sail for several months before it signed the affiliation agreement. However, the deal was only sealed when Omnicom’s top executives visited Myanmar, said John Handley, CEO of Sail.

In an effort to become a full-service agency, the sail team is receiving training from Flieshman-Hillard, while OMD has helped connect the agency with clients and aided the development of Transparent Media, Sail's media unit.

"With a population of over 60 million people, Myanmar presents a significant growth opportunity for many of our Asian and global clients," said Omnicom CEO John Wren in a press statement. "Omnicom's agencies, in partnership with Sail, have deployed ground-breaking campaigns, on behalf of our clients, and we remain committed to growing and deepening our presence in this important market."

Sail has partnered with P&G to run successful PR events to launch its safe drinking water efforts in Myanmar.

According to John Handley, the agency is focusing on large international wins in key areas including telecoms, food products, auto and electronics. Sail’s other clients include Vodafone, Omron, Jotun Paints, Huawei and Orange.
