OMD Thailand has successfully retained the media business of Henkel –   a leading global company with well-known cosmetics brands like Schwarzkopf and Syoss. Under the new contract, post an annual buying review, OMD Thailand will continue to handle the media planning and buying function for all Henkel brands in Thailand. The detailed Henkel media review, estimated to be worth USD 4 million, was conducted in June 2011 lead by Henkel`s regional headquarter based in Shanghai.

Sascha Knoepfel, Henkel Media Manager Asia Pacific said: “We are aware that Henkel is a very demanding client towards all our media agencies worldwide and especially in our growth region Asia Pacific. The level of media professionalism and media buying know-how we expect from our partners is challenging. We have confidence in OMD`s ability to continuously meet our strong expectations and therefore again entrusted OMD with our business in Thailand.”

Paul Spencer, managing director of OMD Thailand, meanwhile said, “Henkel and OMD Thailand enjoy a brilliant working relationship that is based on mutual respect and trust. I am thankful to Henkel for believing in us and giving us an opportunity again to showcase and strengthen Henkel’s presence in Thailand.”

OMD Thailand has won several major accounts recently, including clothing and accessories brand Mango, mobile phone brand OPPO and instant coffee brand Super Coffeemix.

At the regional level, OMD won Sony Electronic’s Asia-Pacific media business, in August. This followed a final three-way pitch involving Carat and the incumbent agency MEC.

Last month, OMD was picked to handle Sara Lee's regional media planning and buying business as part of a global consolidation, following the final round of pitch with MediaCom. The food and beverage giant's consolidated Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific duties is believed to be worth around US$190 million.

OMD Thailand was also tipped to be one of three agencies being invited to a media pitch by Beiersdorf, for three markets in the Southeast Asia region, earlier this month. The other two agencies are Carat and OMD.
