Priti Murthy, a 13-year Maxus veteran who currently serves as the company's chief strategy officer, has been appointed as CEO of OMD India, effective in October.

She will report to Torie Henderson, CEO of Omnicom Media Group for Southeast Asia and India.

The company said the CEO role is newly created. In late 2016, OMD India entered into a partnership with Omnicom-owned DDB Mudra Group in India to consolidate its media services under the OMD brand.

“[Murthy's] appointment will ensure OMD’s accelerated growth that will not only take OMD to the next level, but also stay at the forefront of change," Henderson said in a release.

Stephen Li, OMD’s APAC CEO, said that after a "comprehensive and intense" search, Murthy will spearhead "the next phase of development in a critical market". As a goals-oriented leader with a track record in the realms of data, digital and content, she will ensure OMD delivers on its promise of powerful, creatively-led, insight-driven work for clients, he added.

Harish Shriyan, COO of Omnicom Media Group India said that technology-led innovation is crucial for the business, and Murthy brings proven expertise that enhances the overall network.

"OMD is a network that has established itself as a strong agency, leveraging the best of innovation, creativity, and results," Murthy said. "It’s going to be an exciting future and I am committed to driving OMD’s continued growth and ambition in India.”
