Lee joined DMG after a year at local advertising and media agency 3R Group. He told Campaign Asia-Pacific that at DMG he is responsible for day-to-day operations, business development, mergers and acquisitions.

The 20-year-old company—co-founded by an American, CEO Dan Mintz, and two Chinese, president Wu Bing and chairman Peter Xiao—covers everything from advertising, creative, production and post-production and media, to a new cinema division.

DMG has offices throughout China and in Los Angeles, to develop, produce, and distribute films, TV and digital content that is seen around the world, including  the films Looper, Go Lala Go and Iron Man 3, a co-production between DMG and Disney, will be released next month.

On the advertising side, DMG works for big clients, including Volkswagen, Jaguar, Heinz, Nike, Audi, and Mazda.

Bringing with him a mixture of Chinese and Western culture, Lee worked for OMG China from 2005 to early 2012, where his last role was president and COO. Prior to that, he worked for News Corporation for seven years in Sydney, Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong.

Lee studied biology in Sichuan University and then wildlife management in UK. He was curator of animals at Chongqing Zoological Gardens in the 1990s, and an IUCN captive breeding specialist group member. In 1996, he took a Chinese television crew to document American zoos and aquariums, which he says helped him indirectly along his current career path.
