National Geographic channel, Panasonic and Unesco join forces

GLOBAL — National Geographic channel has announced a new sponsorship deal with Panasonic. It will see a special programming block focused on United Nations Education, Cultural and Scientific Organisation world heritage sites across Asia, North America, South America, Europe and Australia.

Panasonic has had a long-standing partnership with UNESCO. It says it is passionalte about the natural environment as well as the cultures and traditions of the world. As part of the 12-month agreement, Panasonic will sponsor a series of high-quality documentaries on world heritage sites, including the Taj Mahal (India), Machu Pichu (Peru), Yellowstone National Park (US) and Stonehenge (UK).

The 'Panasonic presents the world heritage special' and 'The world heritage special' programming blocks will be available in 370 million homes across the National Geographic network.

Alex Nunoya, general manager of Panasonic Corporation's advertising group, says the deal will provide an excellent avenue to reach a niche target group. “The quality of programming and the brand integrity offered by National Geographic Channel provides a perfect global platform to reach our target audience,”  he said. “We are confident that viewers will enjoy the special World Heritage series and we look forward to sharing with the world our passion for supporting and protecting some of the world’s most amazing places.”
