He replaces Lucas Chow, who resigned from the position in January.

Seow was the group’s deputy CEO from 2005, overseeing a range of business lines from television, radio, print, interactive to outdoor media.

He has more than 20 years of experience in the media industry, including reporting experience through Singapore Press Holdings and Japan’s Nihon Kezai Shimbun. Seow later worked as a news director and TV host, and was instrumental in launching Channel NewsAsia internationally.

Teo Ming Kian, Mediacorp chairman, commented on the appointment, “Having experienced and run the whole gamut of the media business, I have every confidence that he (Seow) will be able to harness the strengths of the company and work alongside the board, management and staff to steer the company to greater heights.”

Seow, meanwhile, said one of his priorities was to seek a deeper understanding of Mediacorp's audience and its needs.

“Innovating to stay relevant will be crucial. I am also quietly confident that the company, with its substrate of diverse and valued content, will be able to make its mark internationally, making Mediacorp a company Singapore can be proud of,” he added.
