He replaces Eileen Wee, who has been appointed head of customer delivery for MasterCard in Southeast Asia.

Hirano will be responsible for strengthening business alliances with MasterCard’s customer base, enhancing brand awareness and promoting the growing usage and acceptance of MasterCard payments cards in Thailand.

An MBA graduate from Cornell University, he has more than 12 years of payment industry experience in areas such as product development, customer acquisition and loyalty programs, with companies like American Express.

He joined MasterCard in 2010 as vice president of product development and sales for Southeast & South Asia.

“Hirano’s experience is invaluable as we continue to build MasterCard’s family of brands with solutions that meet the needs of the Thai marketplace,” said Matthew Driver, division president, Southeast Asia at MasterCard. “We look forward to working with Gregg to bring innovative payments solutions to Thailand, giving our Thai consumers a better way to pay.”
